WE PREPARE

Call to Worship (from Psalm 105)

Hallelujah! Let us give thanks to the Lord and call on God’s name.
We will tell everyone what God has done for us.
We will sing songs and hymns of praise because of God’s faithful and wonderful deeds.
We will honor God’s holy name and seek the Lord with our whole hearts.
We will watch and listen for God’s presence.
God has made a world of wonders and shared it with us. We will worship with thanks and praise!

*Hymn #272      “God of the Sparrow”

*Unison Prayer of Confession

Lord, you designed the world to be one of ebb and flow, birth and death, the changing of seasons, the passing of years. Sometimes these changes cause us to worry. Then we lose sight of you, and our faith suffers. Instead may we be thankful for the twists and turns that make each day full of adventure. And may we, like Mary, spend more time at your feet, listening and learning. Remind us O Lord, that in this whirling world there is always for sure one place of total steadiness — at the feet of Jesus our Savior. Amen.

*Assurance of Forgiveness

*Response Song (#579)      “Gloria Patri”

WE HEAR GOD’S WORD

Unison Reading     Matthew 6: 25-34

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life?
And why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin,
yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these.
But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you--you of little faith?
Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear?'
For it is the Gentiles who strive for all these things; and indeed your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
But strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today's trouble is enough for today.”

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
